Bride and Groom Bears

Bride and Groom Bears

Since the Fall season has begun I thought I would post this Fall looking cake. The 3 tiers had a vine design with fresh flowers in shades of gold, orange and bronze. The bride and groom bears proved to be a little heavy to be used as a topper so I baked a small chocolate cake (a 6″) and added a real wooden stump for the cake to set on.

Sunny Yellow and White

Sunny Yellow

The design for this cake came from a picture the bride gave to me. Something she saw in a magazine. We made a few minor changes just to make it special for her.  She loved the sunny yellow with the white design work.Fresh white lilies were added on the top.

A “Pez” Bride and Groom

A "Pez" Bride and Groom

Do you remember the “PEZ” containers that had candy in them? I do.

This couple found these and thought they would make a nice topper for their cake. Not sure if they are the REAL thing but I agree, they are cute and different. They also chose the wave and vine design with a red ribbon wrapped around each tier with a few fresh flowers.

When you have a very bold color for your wedding colors it works best to use that color on your cake with flowers or ribbon as I have done here. The ribbon color  here is Sangria. Sometimes icing colors when very deep especially when using butter cream frosting may tend to “bleed” into the surrounding icing making it not so pretty.

Basketweave & Fresh Flowers

Basketweave and Fresh Flowers

I’ve always loved doing the basketweave and with the fresh flowers

it looks so pretty. This design works well for Spring or a Fall wedding.

In the Spring maybe use softer shades of flowers and for the Fall, bright

vibrate colors like these. Whatever you choose it looks lovely.
